Hi, I’m Chris and this is my blog. I am an IT Manager, company owner and aspiring games development professional based in mid-Cornwall.
I was plying my trade as a Senior IT Manager in a games development studio and fufilled an unrealised dream to work in games, I felt I’d landed in an industry that was as interesting as it was fufilling – regrettably my initial fear about volatility proved right as the studio was abruptly closed and I found myself wondering just what comes next.

A traditionally curated IT professional, I will often tell people I trained at a time when the internet was mosty text and message boards and a server room was usually in the same building as you were!
I have owned and operated a small technology firm since July 2014 and, espicially duriung the pandemic, have been involved in several interesting contracts.
Prior to that I spent several years honing my managment, financial and strategic skill as an IT Manager in a well-known local travel company and in other roles across a diverse range of companies.
I am the proud holder of a DMS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post_Graduate_Diploma_in_Management_Studies) which I aquired part time alongside my work from 2007-2008 – I had considered going on to an MBA but never really found the inspiration!
I have more industry and professional qualifications than I care to count, and honeslty, can remember! Prince, ITIL, Mitel, Agile, BSC, MCE, MCSE, I can’t even remember all of the acronyms!
Experiences and qualifications include work with ITIL (Incident/Problem and Change/Release management), and with project management (Prince2/Agile) and I feel most at home when I’m part of a high-level strategic team driving business devleopment I have many examples of business transformative work across my direct emplolyment and contract/B2B work history, including several examples of partnering with local technology firms to augment thier in-house skills.
I feel my strengths lie in my organisational skill and ability to work with all levels of buisness from C-suite all the way to the frontline, I interact well with others and am geniunely interested in helping them, my ability to manage complex workloads yet still keep my eye on the details helps.
I also have an extremely high level of determination and skin a foot thick!
So I think I have what it takes to survive in business, but will I?!
That previous line was written some years ago, and I’m still hanging on in there!
